Starting a New Site

Thank you for your interest in bringing a Girls on the Run (GOTR) program to your local school or facility! Girls on the Run is a character development program for girls, ages 8-12, that uses physical activity as a tool to introduce health lifestyle choices. The focus of the program is on increasing the girls’ self-respect and enhancing their self-esteem and confidence through an experienced based curriculum facilitated by Coach Mentors. We program in the Spring and Fall seasons. The season runs for 10 weeks, with the girls meeting twice a week for an hour and 15 minutes each session.

Girls on the Run of Southeast Tennessee is currently located in 15 sites across Southeast Tennessee. We are eager to expand our programming and reach more girls with our message of joy, healthy and confidence. In order for our program to grow and succeed, we require a strong and active commitment from our local site partners. The following things are required of all sites interested in becoming a Girls on the Run of Southeast Tennessee location:

  • All sites are required to recruit two coaches to serve as coach mentors and implement the GOTR curriculum at their location. Coaches must be women 18 years of age or older. Coach applications can be found on our website.  Girls on the Run of Southeast Tennessee will be responsible for training, communicating with, and providing all the materials your coaches will need to confidently implement the program.
  • All sites must identify a specific Site Liaison who is responsible for communicating with the GOTR Program Manager, identifying days and times of programming and helping to publicize the program at their location. Site Liaisons may also  be asked to serve as a substitute at their location. Site Liason can also act as a Coach or Assistant Coach for the site.

If you feel your site can commit to our program expectations, please fill out the form below.  Potential sites will be contacted for a site visit before they will receive official designation as a Girls on the Run program site. Sites that we will not be able to accommodate for the current application period will be considered for the following season.

Site Application Deadlines

Spring Season - November 30 (program begins in February)

Fall Season - May 1 (program begins in August/September)

PLEASE NOTE: At this time, we receive more site applications than we currently have the capacity to serve. Sites able to provide all volunteer coaches at the time of their application will receive priority consideration, as one of our biggest challenges to growth is staffing teams with committed, reliable volunteers. We will review site applications on a rolling basis.
